本卷分为导论、总论、各论三部分。

导论重点概述了中国作物的起源与进化、作物的分类及遗传多样性等；总论主要简介了药用植物的种类、分布及种质资源概况，药用植物种植发展史与现状及品种选育进展；各论分别介绍了99种根及根茎类、种子果实类、全草类、花类及皮类药用植物药用历史与本草考证、植物形态特征与生物学特性、本种的野生近缘植物等。

本书主要是从药用植物的利用历史、药用植物种类及遗传多样性的角度介绍了99种药用植物的概况，可供从事药用植物资源学、药用植物栽培与育种及相关专业的科研人员、大专院校师生参考。

This book is one of series books of Crops and Their Wild Relatives in China and consists of introd uction, general and individual sections. The introduction mainly describes the origin and evolution, classification and genetic diversity of Chinese crops and so on. The general section mainly focuses on the kinds and geographical distribution of Chinese medicinal plants and general information of their germplasms, the history and current situation of cultivation of Chi-nese medicinal plants and the recent proceedings in Chinese medicinal variety breeding and selection. The individual section describes ninety-nine Chinese medicinal plants whose medicinal organs are root, root and stem, seed and fruit. grass, flower or tissues outsides of cambium in such aspects as their medicinal history, research on materia medica, morphological and biological characteristics and wild relatives.In summary, this book introduces the medicinal history, classification and genetic diversities of ninety-nine me-dicinal plants and can provide the reference for scientific researchers and college students who work on germplasm, cultivation and breeding of medicinal plants and in related fields.。
